Royals rocked by couple’s shock split as Princess Anne’s son Peter splits from his long-term girlfriend

A key couple in the royal family have called it quits, in yet another blow for The Firm.

King Charles to possibly engage with the public more from end of April

Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips has suffered fresh royal heartache after splitting from his girlfriend.

The late Queen’s favourite grandson, 46, started dating Lindsay Wallace, 43, in 2021 after the end of his marriage to Autumn Kelly, 45.

The King’s nephew and Lindsay Wallace are said to remain amicable, with nobody else believed to be involved, The Sun reported.

The pair each have two children from previous marriages. Lindsay was a classmate of Peter’s sister Zara Tindall, 42.

A source said: “They were friends before their relationship blossomed. But Peter and Lindsay have gone their separate ways as the relationship simply ran its course.”

Peter, eldest son of Princess Anne and her first hubby Captain Mark Phillips, once introduced Lindsay to his gran, Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castle.

And the 18th in line to the throne took his lover to royal events such as Wimbledon, Ascot, the Coronation concert and baby christenings.

They first met when she and Zara attended £45,000-a-year ($86,000) Gordonstoun School, Scotland. It is believed he and Lindsay reconnected and became friends again at a 2019 reunion.

In February 2020, Peter’s Canadian wife Autumn Kelly — who he married at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in 2008 — told him she wanted to split.

The couple — parents to Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12, — announced their divorce in June 2021.

Mum-of-two Lindsay had broken up with her husband before her relationship with Peter was revealed by The Sun in March 2021.That month, at the height of Covid restrictions, he was quizzed by police after driving 460 miles from his Gloucestershire home to Lindsay’s £475,000 ($909,000) pad on Scotland’s east coast.

The romance was confirmed in November 2021 when they were photographed together ahead of Lucas Tindall’s christening.

In January 2022, Peter introduced Lindsay to Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle.

Insiders revealed it was a “clear sign Lindsay had been welcomed into the family” and sparked hoped the pair could be planning to marry. Sources revealed the late Queen wanted Peter, her eldest and “favourite” grandson, to be happy.

Later that year, with the Queen’s obvious blessing, Peter and Lindsay appeared as a happy couple at Royal Ascot and the Epsom Derby.

They also appeared smiling and clearly loved-up in a Vogue Australia photoshoot with Zara and her hubby Mike Tindall.

Lindsay even appeared in the Royal Box alongside Peter last summer, and with Queen Camilla at Wimbledon.

The pair did not appear with the Royals at Sandringham for Christmas and are believed to have spent the holidays in Scotland.

‘Normal life’

And Lindsay did not appear to join Peter at the Bahrain Grand Prix at the start of March.

Earlier this month he told Australian TV that King Charles, his uncle, was frustrated about the speed of his cancer recovery and was “pushing” staff to be able to return to duties.

Despite being the eldest grandchild of the Queen, Peter was not given a royal title at birth because Anne and Mark Phillips wanted their children to lead as normal a life as possible.

Businessman Peter has run a string of firms and last year reportedly wanted to open an ice rink at Kensington Palace.

He previously came under fire after exploiting his royal connections for advertising for Jersey milk in China.

The scandal came as senior royals held talks with Harry and Meghan banning the pair from using their titles to secure big-money deals after Megxit.Peter was credited with keeping the peace between warring Harry and William by walking between them at Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021.

At the official mourning for the late Queen Elizabeth in September 2022, Peter joined Zara and his six cousins in a 15-minute vigil around the coffin.A spokesman for Peter did not want to comment on the split.
