Prince William, Kate release new portrait of Princess Charlotte in honour of her birthday

The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a stunning new portrait of their daughter in honour of her 10th birthday.

IN LONDON

A stunning new picture of Princess Charlotte has been released by her parents in honour of her 10th birthday.

The middle child and only daughter of Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, is seen grinning at the camera while dressed for the outdoors and wearing a backpack.

The picture – which was taken by her mother on her iPhone earlier this year in Cumbria, northwest England – appears to have been taken during a hike.

It was shared on social media alongside the caption: “Happy 10th Birthday Princess Charlotte!”

The tribute comes just over a week after a photo of Charlotte’s younger brother, Prince Louis, was also released by her parents on social media, in honour of his seventh birthday.

Louis was seen beaming with a gap-toothed grin in the adorable portrait, taken by photographer Josh Shinner last month at the family’s country home in Norfolk.

There’s certainly been a few reasons to celebrate in the Wales household recently, with William and Kate also marking their 14th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.

The couple’s big day fell during a two-day royal tour of the picturesque Isle of Mull in Scotland, the country where they first met and fell in love while students in the early 2000s.

During their stay there this week, William and Kate stayed in a self-catering cottage for a low-key private evening celebration, and spent their days out meeting local craftspeople, farmers and members of the community.
The tour also marked the Princess of Wales’ first overnight tour since her cancer diagnosis early last year.

She stepped back from royal duties after going public with her difficult news, undergoing chemotherapy for several months before announcing she had completed treatment in September.
Earlier this year, Kate revealed she is now in remission, and is continuing her gradual return to public life.
