Prince Harry’s US visa records are about to be made public

A court has ruled the documents must be released following questions about his visa related to his past drug use confession.

Redacted versions of files relating to Prince Harry’s US visa application are set to be released no later than Tuesday.

A US court made the order as part of a Freedom of Information request by conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, which began after the Duke of Sussex wrote about taking cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms in his 2022 memoir.

In Spare, Harry said cocaine “didn’t do anything for me”, but that “marijuana is different, that actually really did help me.”

The organisation has since questioned why Harry’s visa was granted, if he’d declared the drug use on his application in 2020.

The case has gone on for some months, and the latest development comes after Judge Carl Nichols ruled in September that the public did not have a strong enough interest to warrant the immigration records being disclosed.

The Heritage Foundation then applied to have that judgement overturned, which led to the same judge now ordering the US Department of Homeland Security to release the redacted files no later than Tuesday.

Last month, President Donald Trump declared he wouldn’t deport Harry from the US, telling the New York Post that he’d “leave him alone” before taking a dig at his wife, Meghan, who had previously called the controversial leader “divisive” and a “misogynist”.

“He’s got enough problems with his wife [Meghan]. She’s terrible,” Mr Trump added.

Prior to his re-election in November, he’d indicated that he would support “appropriate action” being taken if it was found that the duke had lied on his application.

“We’ll have to see if [DHS] know something about the drugs, and if he lied they’ll have to take appropriate action,” he told Nigel Farage on GB News last March.

Mr Trump had also previously declared he “wouldn’t protect” Harry if given the choice.

“He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me,” he said in early 2023.
