Prince Harry takes dig at Trump during comedy cameo on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show
The US-based royal made an unexpected appearance on The Late Show – and didn’t miss the chance to take a swipe at the president.

Prince Harry has taken a dig at Donald Trump during an unexpected cameo on Stephen Colbert’s show in the US.
The Duke of Sussex popped up on The Late Show on Wednesday night for a sketch with the comedian, during which he – as himself – pretended he was auditioning to play a “Gingerbread Christmas Prince” in a Hallmark movie, and pointed out the US “obsession” with royalty.
In what was clearly an unsubtle nod to the “No Kings” movement against the US President’s “authoritarian” policies, Harry told Colbert that the country had “elected a king”.

While listing all the things he’d do to land the role in mock desperation, Harry then made a cheeky reference to the controversy surrounding Colbert’s show’s recent cancellation.
“I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House – all the things you people in TV do,” he joked.
“Hey, I didn’t do any of those things!” Colbert hit back, prompting Harry to point out: “Maybe that’s why you’re cancelled.”
Paramount, parent company of CBS – the channel on which The Late Show is aired – had made a $16 million settlement with Trump after he filed a lawsuit claiming the network had edited a news interview with his presidential rival, Kamala Harris, in order to “tip the scales” during the 2024 election.
After Colbert criticised the decision, it was announced the show would be coming to an end next May, with the CBS chief blaming it on “economics”.
However, many believe it was due to pressure from the president, who was quick to celebrate its demise, posting on social media: “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.”

Elsewhere in the sketch, Colbert advised Harry he’d need to lean on his Hollywood connections to land a Hallmark part, warning him “this is show business, it’s about who you know.”
He then gave a nod to ex-Suits actress Meghan, Harry’s wife, asking: “Do you have a personal connection to any famous TV actresses?”
“I might know one,” Harry replied, deadpan.
This week’s appearance marked Harry’s second visit to The Late Show, which is filmed in New York City.
He previously was a guest in early 2023, during promotion for his bombshell memoir, Spare.
