Prince Harry ‘furious’, ‘in tears’ over King Charles decision

New details have surfaced about a turning point in Harry and Charles’ relationship following the Duke of Sussex’s cutting ties with the UK.

Prince Harry was left “furious” and “in tears” after his father decided to evict his family from Frogmore Cottage last year, it’s been reported.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were told to remove their belongings from their former UK home early last year, shortly after Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare, was released and had completely vacated by June.

It also emerged last week that the duke had changed his primary residence from the United Kingdom to the United States, with the change backdated to June 29, 2023 – the same day the Palace confirmed the couple had left their Windsor property.

According to royal biographer Tom Quinn, Harry viewed the eviction as a “slap in the face” and “vindictive”.

“The story of Harry’s change of residence may have come out only in the past few days, but in fact Harry quietly changed his primary residence as long ago as June 29, 2023 – on the very day he and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate,” he told the UK’s Mirror.

“That’s the date given in new business documents filed in the US this week. At the time, few people realised what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry – it was the last straw.”

Quinn went on: “Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore – he felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive,”

Frogmore Cottage was gifted to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the late Queen when they got married in 2018. It underwent significant renovations – costing taxpayers a reported £2.4 million ($A4.29 million) – before they eventually moved in.

However, Harry and Meghan lived there for less than a year before announcing they were quitting royal duties and moving overseas in early 2020.

They have since reportedly paid back the cost of the renovations after landing a series of lucrative commercial deals.

Harry is expected to return to the UK for the Invictus Games’ 10th Anniversary service at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, although there’s yet to be official confirmation or any indication of whether Meghan will join him.
