One of the Duchess of Sussex’s longtime friends has unveiled a touching message to her in a new book.
Lindsay Jill Roth, who became close with Meghan while they both attended Northwestern University, told People magazine recently that her friend hadn’t known about her special dedication.
“She hasn’t read her acknowledgment yet,” she explained, referencing the nod in her newly-published book, Romances & Practicalities: A Love Story (Maybe Yours!) in 250 Questions.
“Meghan Sussex, Meg, to be sisters by choice, still thinking the same thing at the same time after all these years — no matter how many miles between us — is my favourite part of our unbreakable bond,” the acknowledgment to Meghan read.
“There for each other always, sharing a deep loyalty and understanding — I could tell you anything, and it would be okay. I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart).”

Roth told People she’d made it a surprise “as a little token for her to see” upon the book’s release.
“I think it’s rare to find friends who love you unconditionally, and I’ve been lucky in my life to have a few who I truly consider family. It’s almost like those words aren’t enough,” she explained.
Roth has been a passionate supporter of her friend over the years. Prior to her marrying Prince Harry, Meghan even served as a maid of honour at Roth’s 2016 wedding, and the TV producer is even believed to be one of Prince Archie’s godmothers.
When the duchess was facing allegations of bullying Palace aides in 2021, Roth defended her publicly, declaring that she has “always” acted from a place of “kindness” and “goodwill”.

“I know this to be true after 22 years of very close friendship. I have seen first-hand how she treats her friends and their families, and her colleagues,” Roth wrote on social media at the time.
“If she’s driving with you in the passenger seat, she will fling her right arm in front of you at the slightest bump in a gesture of love to ensure your safety. If you have a specific goal, she will help you get there, and your passions will become hers on your behalf.
“If you ever have the pleasure of meeting Meg — and I hope more of you do — you will see the altruistic, magnanimous friend who I am so lucky to have in my corner.”
Roth went on to insist that she had been the same “when we were students together” at university, when she had been “in Los Angeles when her days were spent auditioning”, when she was “living in Toronto” and working on Suits and when the world found out “she was dating Harry”.
“She was this woman after you knew was dating Harry; she was this woman when she became Duchess of Sussex and she is still — without a doubt — this very same woman today.”
