The old saying goes that the best revenge is living well, and that’s what Meghan Markle’s ex-husband is learning first hand.
Trevor Engelson was married to Meghan for four years from 2011 to 2014 before she went on to remarry to Prince Harry and become one of the most famous women on earth.
He also found another life partner but according to an inside source, Meghan’s name is not uttered in his social circles as it’s still a source of pain for the American film producer and literary manager, bringing back memories of his failed marriage.
But Mr Engelson has gone on to live his best life, the insider went to great pains to say, including having two kids with his current wife, an heiress called Tracey Kurland, whom he wed in 2019.
And to add the cherry on top, he is probably richer than Meghan, thanks to a successful career and his wife’s riches.
“Everyone in Trevor‘s life knows not to mention the ‘M’ word,” the insider told The Daily Mail.
“He’s moved on and, in some ways, you could say he’s having an even better life than Meghan. He probably has more money than she does now, he’s doing what he loves and he’s out of the spotlight. It’s the ultimate revenge.”
Mr Engelson’s marriage to his current wife has certainly boosted his personal fortune, propelling him beyond even the levels of wealth that Megan enjoys.
His partner, Tracey Kurland, works as a nutritionist but she inherited a staggering fortune from her late father, numbering in the nine figures.
Ms Kurland’s dad had accrued a US$500 million (A$773 million) net worth from his work in the mortgage industry.
When he passed away in 2021, local media reported that Ms Kurland inherited US$250 million (A$386 million).
Mr Engelson’s own business has also taken off in the years since he and Meghan split.
He runs a management and production company called Underground, headquartered in Beverly Hills, which went on to create TV sensation Snowfall.
The couple also have two young daughters together, another source of Mr Engelson’s new-found zest for life.
“When I saw him recently, he kept going on about how he’s the happiest he’s ever been, how he loves being a dad and how he’s never felt more fulfilled,” the source continued.
This same source said that Mr Engelson was “crushed” when he and Meghan divorced last decade.
“He’s a good guy but Meghan crushed him when she demanded a divorce,” the insider said.
“When she took up with Prince Harry, he was crushed all over again because he was constantly reminded of her because of the publicity around the marriage and then the drama of the Oprah interview.”
Mr Engelson and Meghan hit it off in a Hollywood bar in 2004 and dated for the following seven years, before getting married in 2011.
