Eurovision fans have been surprised by an appearance by the Princess of Wales playing piano in a stunning show opening.

The Princess accompanied last year‘s champions Kalush Orchestra in a performance of their winning entry Stefania.

The band were filmed performing their song outside the Maiden Nezalezhnosti metro station in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Kate – who looked stunning in a blue dress and a pair of the late Queen Elizabeth‘s earrings – joined in with a short instrumental piano performance.

She was recorded in the drawing room of Windsor Castle earlier this month ahead of the Eurovision Grand Final.

“Holy s**t was that Kate, Princess of Wales on piano?” one said, as another chimed in: ”Kate plays the piano so royally.”

“WAS THAT KATE? PRINCESS OF WALES?” a third wrote, while a fourth said: ”Perfect way to open it, love it!”

Elsewhere, prerecorded clips of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder and singer Joss Stone also played alongside the Ukrainian band.

It comes as the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 comes to an end today, after days of competition between countries.

In a change to his usual job of Eurovision commentator, Graham Norton is co-hosting the big event.

The chat show host is joined by Alesha Dixon, Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.

Elsewhere in the grand final, last year‘s runner up Sam Ryder is set to be joined on stage by a huge rock legend to perform in the interval.

Sam, 33, will be accompanied by Queen drummer Roger Taylor, 73.

He will sing his latest single Mountains at Eurovision 2023 and will be joined by Roger as well as a series of dancers.

Sam previously competed with his track Space Man in Turin last May.

He met Roger when he performed with Queen last September at Taylor Hawkins’ tribute concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.
