Intruder alert!

As Denmark’s King Frederik and Queen Mary stood smiling and waving on the balcony of their luxurious home in Copenhagen in celebration of the King’s 57th birthday, they were upstaged by an intruder.

Luckily, the intruder was a hairy, four-legged Australian border collie and part of the Royal Family.

Dogs Grace and Coco have been with the family since 2017 and 2021 respectively, when they were adopted as puppies.

The King and Queen were joined by their three children, Princess Isabella, 18, and14-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

Their eldest, Prince Christian, 19, could not attend due to his current military service commitments.

Also waving and smiling from the balcony to the adoring public below was the King’s mother, former monarch Queen Margrethe.

The Danish royals laughed as they were joined by their dog, and embraced warmly.

The show of affection between the two come more than a year after King Frederik was involved in a scandal, alleging he had an affair with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova.

In November 2023, pictures of the King and Ms Casanova revealed them enjoying a night out in Madrid, Spain, with headlines quickly following about the rumoured affair.

The Royal Family has never released any official statement about the rumours.
