Coronation concert: Charlotte and George steal the limelight with song and dance

Princess Charlotte and Prince George delighted royal watchers as they danced and sang the night away at the spectacular coronation concert.

Incredible light show at coronation concert

Princess Charlotte roared along with Katy Perry, Prince George sang the national anthem with gusto, while their mum Catherine, the Princess of Wales was picture perfect in a red pantsuit to match the Union Jack flag she was waving as she danced to Lionel Richie at the Coronation Concert.

Sadly, if you only started reading this story in the hope of hearing about some of Prince Louis’ antics, then you’ll be sorely disappointed, as he was a no-show, most likely because it was past his bedtime.

But if he had been there, he would have been delighted by Kermit the Frog, who made an appearance in the royal box alongside his great uncle Prince Edward.

Yes, there was something for every royal at the event, which was pretty much held in the back garden of the King’s country castle at Windsor.

The event was to round-off a weekend of celebrations for the monarch’s coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday.

On his first full day as King, Charles showed he would do things a little differently from his mother.

When this sort of thing was organised in honour of Queen Elizabeth she would often arrive a few songs in, as she wasn’t that keen on rock or pop music.

And, she famously wore earplugs at her Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace in 2012.

But both Charles and wife Queen Camilla got up with the rest of the family to dance, which included Sarah Ferguson, his brother Andrew’s ex-wife who scored a seat in the royal box despite not getting an invite to the main event on Saturday.

There were a couple of emotional moments, a performance by a 13-year-old girl called Lucy, who is blind and unable to hold a conversation due to her developmental delays, but is a brilliant pianist.

And, then there was the Prince of Wales speech in honour of his father, where he said he believed his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth was “up there, probably keeping an eye on us and she would be a very proud mother”.

He then talked about his father’s lifetime of good work “in every corner of the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world he has dedicated himself to serve others, both current and future generations, and those whose memory must not be neglected”.

Before saying, “Pa, we are so proud of you”.

Amid all the excitement and emotion there was one person that stood out, and it wasn’t Zara or Mike Tindall, who are known for enjoying a party.

No, the title of Dancing Queen went to Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who appeared to be a fan of everything.

Dressed in red, she was all smiles and jiggly hips.

Bravo!
