Jack Whitehall has claimed he was ”dropped” by Prince Harry once he started dating Meghan Markle.
The British comedian lifted the lid on the demise of his friendship with the royal during an interview on NovaFM’s Jase & Lauren show recently, admitting he was “a terror” before he met the then-Suits actress.
“I’ve come into contact with a couple of [the royals] in the past. I was quite good friends with Harry back in the day. Pre-Meghan, when he was a terror,” Whitehall, 36, told the breakfast radio hosts.
When asked whether the Duke of Sussex had “dropped his mates” when he met Meghan, the Bad Education star replied: “Yeah”.
He added that they’d had “a few nights out together” and he was “quite fun”, prior to settling down with Meghan in 2016 and going on to get engaged the following year.
Whitehall and the prince have been pictured hanging out several times over the years, including at the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2015.
Just three years later, Harry tied the knot with Meghan at a lavish royal wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Whitehall isn’t the only person that claims to have lost contact with Harry after his relationship with Meghan became serious.
In 2019, insiders claimed that Harry had “frozen out” several of his long-term friends after his wedding, including former best friend Tom “Skippy” Inskip and Astrid Harbord.
“Like several others who were considered a questionable influence on Harry during his bad old bachelor days, Tom has been dropped, even though he himself now has a lovely wife, Lara,” a source told the UK’s Express at the time.
“It’s all part of Meghan’s quiet airbrushing out of Harry’s old posse. She doesn’t want temptation — of any sort — being put in his way while they concentrate on starting a family.”
Harry and Meghan moved from the UK to Montecito in California, in 2020, where they live with their two young children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
