The Moment Oprah called Melissa Doyle | Something To Talk About

Oprah Winfrey has developed a new obsession with an Aussie breakfast favourite that she’s dined on the dish two days in a row.

The beloved talk show host, who is currently in Australia for her Oprah In Conversation speaking tour, hit up famed Sydney restaurant Bills again to order its famed ricotta hot cakes, which is listed at $32.50 on the menu.

“So good I had to come back TWICE! @billsaustralia’s ricotta hot cakes have me singing out here,” she captioned a clip on Instagram, which featured her singing the pancakes’ praises to a waiter at the Bondi location.

The dining recommendation came from Oprah’s good friend, Aussie actor Hugh Jackman, who told the US star to stop by Bills during her Sydney visit. And she did just that on Tuesday, one day after touching down in the Harbour City.

“I walked four miles for these ricotta hot cakes from @billsaustralia — and they were worth every step!” she captioned a video on Tuesday after doing the Bondi to Bronte walk.

“Thank you @thehughjackman for the suggestion.”

And now it’s Oprah who is recommending Bills to anyone who’ll listen, including Seven News journalist Paul Kadak, who nabbed an interview with star at the restaurant on her second visit.

“We’re back for more ricotta pancakes,” Oprah told him. “Going to get more ricotta pancakes.”

The star then unexpectedly turned waitress, personally serving ricotta pancakes to the reporter after chatting to him outside the joint.

“For you, Paul,” she said as she delivered him the hot cakes while ushering him to sit at a table. “I’m your server today. Life is better when you share it.”

The gesture came after Oprah told him she has been savouring Sydney’s culinary scene. Not only has Bills been her go-to, but she also enjoyed dinner at Fred’s in Paddington.

“They had the best bread of my life. Do you understand? My life,” she declared.

When she isn’t enjoying the Sydney foodie scene, Oprah is off hiking in our great outdoors.

On Wednesday, after emerging from her Four Seasons hotel barefoot, she hit the trail at the Royal National Park (presumably after she put her shoes on).

“Today we are in royal Royal National Park about an hour outside of Sydney,” she told her 22 million Instagram followers in a video of her hike, which she completed in less than 80 minutes. “We are doing the Wattamolla trail from here to Eagle Rock. This is unbelievable. I hear the sound of the ocean and the sound of birds. Unbelievable. This is why we hike.”

“I’m sure we’re gonna go to the top of that peak over there,” she pointed to the distance.

“I remember a time I thought, ‘Oh no, I can’t go uphill.’ But now I think bring it on.”

Oprah’s speaking tour kicks off this evening at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Darling Harbour, In addition that show, Oprah will tour Adelaide on December 6, Brisbane on December 8, Melbourne on December 11, before finishing up in Auckland on December 14.
