Jay-Z slammed for ‘improper’ move to expose rape accuser

Jay-Z’s attempts to unmask the identity of a woman alleging he raped her as a 13-year-old were ‘improper’, according to the accuser’s lawyer.

50 Cent calls out Jay-Z for attending premiere amid rape accusations

Rapper Jay-Z has made “improper” moves to unmask the identity of the woman accusing him of raping her as a 13-year-old, according to lawyer Tony Buzbee.

Mr Buzbee, who represents the accuser, said a court filing from the legal team of Shawn Carter, known as Jay-Z, was a “thin veneer” to reveal his client’s identity.

Mr Carter and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs were named in a sexual assault lawsuit from an alleged rape at a VMA afterparty in 2000. Mr Carter has denied the allegations, claiming it was a “blackmail attempt”. His legal team this week filed a letter requesting the woman be identified.

Mr Buzbee hit back in a court filing that “letter briefs” submitted by Mr Carter’s legal team were “press releases” disguised as legal filings.

“It appears defendant Carter made that separate filing, which we believe to be procedurally improper and substantively deficient, to serve as the pretext for defence counsel to submit two ‘letter briefs’ to the Court on December 9 and 10,” Mr Buzbee wrote in a letter filed to the court, obtained by Fox News Digital.

“These ‘letter briefs’ are, frankly, nothing short of defamation hiding behind the thinnest veneer of litigation privilege.

“Except for one sentence requesting an expedited hearing, the ‘letter briefs’ have absolutely nothing to do with the only pending issue before the Court -- namely, whether my client should be allowed to continue to proceed anonymously,” he added.

“The letters’ otherwise irrelevant contentions that the amended complaint’s allegations are ‘inflammatory’ and ‘frivolous,’ as against counsel’s plea that ‘Mr. Carter is entirely innocent,’ are merely press releases dressed as legal filings.”

50 CENT TROLLS JAY-Z, DIDDY

Music mogul and rapper 50 Cent has mocked Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs on social media after they were accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

The rapper shared a fake AI video, originally posted by the account @manmeetsmachine, on Instagram that shows Jay-Z, 55, and Combs, 55, getting arrested and sent to jail, reports the New York Post.

The video, set to the song Sound of da Police by rapper KRS-One, begins with the pair being placed in handcuffs by police officers and escorted off in front of other party guests.

Jay-Z and Combs are both wearing tuxedos and holding wine glasses during their arrests.

The video ends with the rappers standing in a jail cell.

50 Cent captioned his post, “I want to post this but I’m afraid I’m gonna get shot. LOL.”

On Sunday, Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) and Combs were both named in a lawsuit filed in October by “Jane Doe,” who accused them of raping her at an after-party for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when she was 13.

The complaint also claims the assault happened while an unnamed female celebrity watched.

Jane Doe alleged that she was approached by Combs’ alleged limo driver, who invited her to an after-party while she tried to get into the 2000 VMAs in New York. When she got to the after-party residence, she alleged she was asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

At some point during the afterparty, Jane Doe said she was allegedly drugged after being served a drink and “held down by Carter as he vaginally raped her, while Combs and Celebrity B watched. After Carter finished, he stepped back toward the wall. Combs then stepped forward and vaginally raped Plaintiff while Carter and Celebrity B watched.”

Jay-Z vehemently denied the “heinous” allegations against him, calling the lawsuit a “blackmail attempt”.

He also vowed to fight the legal battle and demanded that Jane Doe reveal her identity.

The 24-time Grammy Award winner also said he was heartbroken that he and his wife Beyoncé have to talk to their three children — Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, 7 — about the allegations.

The day after he was named in the lawsuit, Jay-Z attended the “Mufasa: The Lion King” red carpet premiere with Bey, Blue Ivy and his mother-in-law Tina Knowles — which prompted a response from 50 Cent.

50 Cent mocked Jay-Z for attending the Hollywood event in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“Jay said they said I rapped [sic] a kid, everybody get dressed we going to see Mufasa LOL,” 50 Cent wrote alongside a picture of Jay-Z with his wife and oldest daughter at the premiere.

50 Cent has also notoriously trolled Combs on social media over the years regarding the sexual assault allegations against the latter rapper.

Combs was arrested in September on federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges and the latest rape lawsuit that involves Jay-Z.

The Bad Boy Entertainment founder is being held without bail in federal custody in Brooklyn. His trial begins in May 2025.

50 Cent is currently making a Netflix documentary about Combs’ downfall.

JAY-Z, BEYONCE PUT ON UNITED FRONT

Meanwhile, Jay-Z has filed to dismiss a rape civil lawsuit against him and has asked for the accuser to be named publicly, as he stepped out on the red carpet with wife Beyonce for the first time since the shocking allegations against him were made public.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 with fellow music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The accuser, identified only as “Jane Doe”, said the assault happened after she was driven to an MTV Video Music Awards after-party.

According to the New York Post, court documents show Jay-Z claims lawyer Tony Buzbee, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of his client, has “levelled baseless allegations” against him while “hiding behind the pseudonym ‘Jane Doe.’”

“These claims are not about justice for victims. Nor are they about giving victims of sexual violence a voice,” the filing reads, according to Page Six.

“Instead, they are merely the next chapter in Attorney Buzbee’s sprawling extortion saga-a saga whose aim is base and measured in dollars.”

Jay-Z, who has three children with Beyonce, has asked the court to deny the plaintiff’s motion or for her identity to be “disclosed immediately” to the public.

The influential couple stepped out for the world premiere of Disney's "Mufasa: The Lion King" at the Dolby theatre in Hollywood Monday US time, a day after the rape claims against him were made public.

Jay-Z and Beyonce put on a united front as they posed for the cameras arm-in-arm.

Meanwhile, Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles threw a curveball when she liked an Instagram post about the civil lawsuit shared by abc7chicago.

“Oooweee … Ms. Tina Knowles must know a little sump’tin???” an eagle-eyed fan reacted.

The lawsuit was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York listing Combs as a defendant. It was refiled on the weekend to include Carter.

“Defendant Sean Combs (a/k/a “P. Diddy,” a/k/a “Puff Daddy,” a/k/a “Diddy,” a/k/a

“PD,” and a/k/a “Love”), along with his longtime friend and collaborator Shawn Carter (a/k/a “Jay-Z”), drugged and raped a thirteen-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards. Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor. Many others were present at the afterparty, but did nothing to stop the assault,” the legal document states.

Combs, 55, is in jail at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn awaiting trial for sex trafficking, racketeering and prostitution, to which he pleaded not guilty.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Jay-Z said he was determined “to expose [the accuser] for the fraud.”

“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” Carter said, adding “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

He continued: “My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”

In a statement to TMZ, Combs lawyers said: “This amended complaint and the recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee exposes his barrage of lawsuits against Mr. Combs for what they are: shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs. As his legal team has said before, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone-man or woman, adult or minor.”

Texas-based Buzbee, who filed the suit on behalf of the accuser, told TMZ: “Mr. Carter previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm. He even filed his frivolous case under a pseudonym. What he fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim and that victim never demanded a penny from him. Instead, she only sought a confidential mediation. Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve.”

Buzbee says he plans to file civil law suits on behalf of 120 alleged victims including 25 minors – one who was just nine years old.
