ACTOR Neil Patrick Harris has scotched rumours that he and husband David Burtka are set to split by posting a loving family photo to Instagram.

The award-winning actor posted the photo of David along with the couple’s four-year-old twins Harper and Gideon and wrote beneath: “I couldn’t be more in love with my family. Any reports to the contrary are woefully mistaken. #grateful.”

Split rumours surfaced after the National Enquirer published a photo it claimed showed Harris storming out on Burtka. The story referred to Burtka as Harris’ “gay lover” even though the pair are married and have been together for ten years.

The 41-year-old The How I Met Your Mother star spoke about the difficulty of keeping love alive in a long time relationship in an interview with Glamourand extolled the virtues of having children.

“Having kids was one of those great moments for me,” he told the magazine. “Watching David become another level of person, mastering this other domain, made me look at him with a whole other set of appreciative eyes. That sort of made me re-fall in love with him.”
