Grant Denyer’s wife, Chezzi Denyer, has shared a photo of herself sporting an eye bandage after contracting an eye infection.

In the Instagram photo, the 43-year-old appeared despondent while rocking a dressing strap over her right eye.

“The lengths we will go to just to promote our award-winning Podcast – It’s All True?” she captioned the photo.

The former TV producer was referring to the podcast she co-hosts with her husband Grant, on which the duo open up about the highs and lows of their 13-year marriage.

In this week’s episode, they also shared details on Chezzi’s eye injury.

“I had a very sore eye last week,” she said on the episode. “I said to Grant I think maybe I have a stye. I haven’t had a stye since I was about 15. In fact, I think I only ever had one. I wasn’t quite sure, I just knew it was really sore.”

Chezzi said her eye then turned into a big “puff ball” after watching the musical Wicked as the smoke from the show appeared to irritate it. When she woke up the next morning, it was “yuck and gunky” and her eye was completely swollen.

Grant even joked that it looked like she had “eight eyelids on one eye”.

“I could see you were in some kind of discomfort although you were insisting you were fine. “You were sort of wobbling around a little bit,” he recalled.

After finally reporting to the hospital, Chezzi was told she had periorbital cellulitis, a serious infection of the eyelid, which can cause sufferers to lose vision.

But before reaching that diagnosis, doctors asked her some odd questions as they were perplexed as to why she did not have a fever typically present in serious infections.

“’An infection this bad that had gone into your bloodstream and into your jaw, and all your lymph nodes are all swollen, we’ve never seen someone who hadn’t had a temperature,’” she recalled them saying.

Doctors then asked if she had a partner and if they were sexually active as she may have the sexually transmitted infection chlamydia.

“I said, ‘Chlamydia in your eye, like a koala? How do you even get chlamydia in your eye?’ “And he said, ‘Well, has your partner ejaculated in your eye?’ And I never laughed so hard until I realised how serious he was.”

“They thought you had jizz eye?” an amused grant asked.

Tests soon discovered Chezzi had a staph infection that added to her periorbital cellulitis.

“I’m still in shock,” she said. “I can’t believe [jizz eye] is an actually a thing.”
