Fans react to Glee star Darren Criss’ bizarre name for newborn son: ’Change it’

An actor is being urged by fans to change the “ridiculous” baby name he gave his newborn son.

Glee star Darren Criss is still being trolled by fans three days after her announced the unusual baby name he gave his newborn son.

The actor excitedly shared that he and his wife, producer Mia Swier, had welcomed their second baby on June 3, a little boy they named Brother László Criss. The couple are already parents to daughter Bluesy Belle, 2.

“M & D just delivered their follow-up single. Brother László Criss, 6/3/24,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a cute photo of their little bundle.

“Out now. … and yes his first name is Brother.”

The bizarre name left many of his followers scratching their heads.

“If you have to clarify that’s it’s his name maybe it shouldn’t be his name,” one commented, while another wrote: “If you have to explain their name is ‘Brother’ then a different name should be picked.”

“I feel so bad for this child. I would change it as soon as I could,” yet another wrote, while one wondered: “What the hell is up with celebs choosing such ridiculous names.”

But it wasn’t all negativity on social media, with many, including his former Glee co-stars, showering the proud parents with well wishes.

“Yeeeeesssss! So happy for you growing Family!! Love you all!” wrote Matthew Morrison, who played Spanish teacher Will Schuester on the show. Kevin McHale also offered his “Congratulations.”

“That baby is already cooler than i’ll ever be omg,” one fan chimed in, with another commented: “Congrats on your sophomore album!”

Criss and Swier used another music metaphor when they announced their first pregnancy with Bluesy back in 2022.

“We’ve been making music for years. But this time we made a BEAT. The ultimate collab droppin Spring 2022,” the couple announced at the time.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Bluesy, in April 2023.

Once their daughter arrived in April 2023, they again used a music reference to announce her birth.

“M & D made some sweet music. Bluesy Belle Criss 4/11/22. Out now,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.

With their children named Bluesy and Brother, one fan wondered if they purposely named their kids after the 1980 musical movie Blues Brothers.

“Did you name your kids after the blues brothers just in a super literal way?” the fan asked.
