Demi Moore has revealed people have been saying her name wrong all these years.

The US actress, who has been working in showbiz for more than four decades, sat down on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon following her debut Golden Globes win last Monday.

Moore, 62, who is tipped to be up for a Best Actress Oscar for The Substance when nominations are unveiled on January 19, said while ‘Deh-mi’ was the common pronunciation for her name, she says it slightly differently.

Referencing fellow celebrity Demi Lovato, Moore explained, “Demi [Lovato] and I had a great conversation about this because she’s from Texas and I’m from New Mexico, so our families say our names the same way, but we individually both pronounce it differently. It works better with our last names.

“Like, ‘Deh-mi Lovato’ sounds really good. And ‘Deh-mee’ Moore sounds really good.”

So there you have it folks, it’s pronounced ‘Deh-mee’ more.

The Striptease actress is enjoying a well-deserved resurgence in Hollywood, defying the archaic sentiment female acting careers go south after the age of 40.

During her Globes acceptance speech at the Beverly Hilton, Moore informed the audience her win marked her first ever award triumph, despite having starred in films since 1981.

“Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress,” she declared while accepting Best Female Actor in a musical or comedy.

“At that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have. That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged and I bought in, and I believed that,” she said.

Moore described that being pigeonholed, and then ignored, “corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it. Maybe I was complete, maybe I’d done what I was supposed to do.

“And as I was at kind of a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance,” she added. “And the universe told me, ‘You’re not done.’”

Moore is a frontrunner in the Best Actress category for awards season this year, and most recently was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award alongside Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Perez) and Mikey Madison (Anora).

Australian actress Nicole Kidman was sensationally snubbed in the category, slightly hindering her awards campaign with the SAGs considered the most accurate barometer for Academy Award nominations.
