REESE Witherspoon has given her daughter a tear-jerking present for her 18th birthday.
Ava, the actor’s eldest child, was gifted 18 heartfelt letters by her mother which Witherspoon had written to her daughter each year on her birthday.
The 18-year-old, moved by the sentimental gift, took to Instagram to share the special moment.
She wrote, “18 letters that made me cry (hard) today, courtesy of my lovely mother.”
Despite Ava choosing not to share the content of the letters, if they made her cry “hard” it’s not difficult to imagine the love Witherspoon poured into the thoughtful present.
Witherspoon and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe both shared a collection of throwback photos on Instagram of their daughter from her childhood on their own pages.
In Witherspoon’s first post she is cuddled up to Ava when she is just a little girl. In the caption she wrote she felt lucky to be Ava’s mum as her, “kindness, grace, intelligence and humour” never cease to amaze her.
The next photo — a more recent one simply captioned “#18” — shows Ava is the spitting image of her Oscar-winning mother with her light blonde hair and bright blue eyes.
Phillippe, Ava’s dad, chose to share a thread of photos, each captioned with a continuing heartfelt birthday message.
It read, “Happy Birthday punk. I love you more than (a) stranger need read, but … you are the coolest, smartest, most beautiful daughter a father could ever have. And even though you’re no longer a child, you’ll always be my little girl. Happy 18th, princess.”
The two stars might be divorced but their birthday messages to their daughter are adorable.
