Turns out, Australian celebrities Kate Ceberano and Kate Langbroek have more than just a first name in common.
Singer Ceberano posted a photo to her Instagram account on Thursday afternoon showing her and TV and radio presenter Langbroek cuddled up for a selfie. In her caption, she revealed that the pair share something of a family connection.
“My beautiful friend @katelangbroek happens to also be the mother of the young lad that loves my daughter!!!!!! Winner winner chicken dinner!!!! #family,” she captioned the photo.
Ceberano’s daughter with husband Lee Rogers is 20-year-old Gypsy Rogers, herself a fledgling singer-songwriter. She’s dating Langbroek’s son Lewis, and in fact has been for some time.
Fans and famous friends flooded the post with supportive comments.
“This is soooooo gorgeous!!!!!” gushed The Block judge Shaynna Blaze.
“Lucky kids,” wrote Frontline star Jane Kennedy.
“OH WOW that’s fabulous,” one commenter wrote, with another saying they’d “love to be at the kitchen table of that blended family.”
It was in September last year that Langbroek spoke publicly for the first time about the young pair’s budding romance.
At the time, she told Stellar it was “early days” for the young couple.
“But she’s just such a beauty. She’s divine,” she said of Lewis’ new girlfriend.
Langbroek jokingly called the pair “two beautiful nepo babies.”
However, she did admit it took a while to wrap her head around her son being all grown up and in a relationship.
“That transition is such a massive one of suddenly like your baby, calling someone baby,” she said.
“Like going on to a romantic part of their life is, I gather from other people, can just be a huge thing. But it’s kind of just happened seamlessly so far. Let me touch wood.”
Langbroek has been through a lot with eldest son Lewis, who was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was six years old and endured four years of “terrible” treatment for the illness.
“He had leukaemia and it was a gruelling, terrible, frightening and painful three-and-a-half years before he returned to health. Today he is tall and strong and healthy and ALIVE and we give thanks; to doctors and nurses and friends – and to those who came before us,” she said in 2020.
