Chris Hemsworth is currently enjoying a pre-Christmas holiday in Fiji with his family.
The Aussie actor is joined by his actress wife Elsa Pataky and their three kids – daughter India, 11, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 9 – at the Tavarua Island Resort, where they’ve enjoyed activities both on land and in the sea.
The family went on a water adventure at the request of little Tristan, who wanted to catch some fish for the local villagers.
In a clip of their outing shared on Instagram today, Tristan could be seen helping his dad reel in massive swordfish onto their boat.
“My son wanted to catch a fish for the locals in Fiji and after 3 attempts and about 12 hrs at sea we pulled in this beauty. Fed the village for 3 days,” Hemsworth wrote in the caption.
In the footage, Tristan also called his dad by his first name - and the actor didn’t even bat an eyelid.
“Ps if your wondering why my son calls me Chris it’s because I’m his BFF and true mates don’t call each other dad,” Hemsworth added.
The top comment under the post is from a follower asking: “Why is his son calling him Chris?”, with dozens more Hemsworth fans debating the topic underneath.
His Fast & Furious star wife has also shared photos of their adventures on their Fijian holiday, which included snorkelling, surfing and riding trikes on the beach.
“Fiji family adventures,” she wrote alongside a carousel of holiday snaps.
The Hemsworths also shared videos of them enjoying a traditional Fijian “Lovo” during which they and other resort guests were welcomed by staff with some singing, dancing and feasting.
“Fiji night in @tavaruaislandresort where the Kava flows as steady as the surf! Bula!” the actor said of their evening.
Since Hemsworth discovered in 2022 that he had a high-risk of contracting Alzheimer’s disease, a degenerative brain disease, he has pretty much spent the last year spending time with his family in Bryon Bay, far away from Hollywood.
While Hemsworth told Vanity Fair at the time that he’s “not talking about retiring by any means”, he has made the decision to take on fewer roles.
“Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death,” he told the magazine.
“Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in. Your own mortality.”
“I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do,” he added before revealing he plans to “go home and … to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”
