Abbie Chatfield has opened up about her years-long “beef” with Tones And I – and how she attempted to end it, to no avail.

Abbie Chatfield has attempted to put an end to the years-long “beef” she has with Tones And I but her efforts were not welcomed.

In a TikTok video shared on Friday, the TV and radio personality opened up about the falling out with the Aussie singer during Covid lockdowns in 2021 after they had a disagreement on social media.

At the time, Tones And I – real name Toni Watson – shared a message on Instagram suggesting that more people had died from suicide than from Covid over the previous two years.

The claim did not sit well with Chatfield, who questioned them on her own Instagram, saying, “It’s just incorrect. The reason we haven’t had as many Covid deaths is because of lockdowns. Disappointing.”

Chatfield said that the singer then sent her a message on the platform, but she never got to read it as Tones And I then unsent the message. And ever since, Chatfield said relations have been awkward between the two.

“My beef with Tones and I is so funny to me,” Chatfield said in the TikTok video.

“It’s a thing. Listen, I have no personal, negative feelings toward Tones and I. I’ve never really had any personal feelings towards Tones and I at all.”

The It’s A Lot podcast host said that she tries to squash their “beef” recently when she was hosting a festival where Tones And I was performing, but the singer was not having it.

“I did meet her and try to sort it out and when I did that she was not having a bar of me. She was not into it,” Chatfield said.

She then said that she “heard through the grapevine” that the singer “didn’t like” her, so Chatfield tried to explain herself after running in the Dance Monkey singer backstage.

“I said, ‘Hey, I know we had some weird interactions or I know I was pretty harsh on you … I’m sorry it got so heated,’ or something like that,” Chatfield recalled.

“She was not having bar of me. She just went, ‘Yeah’ and didn’t like it.”

The singer said that more people died from suicide than from Covid, which Chatfield believed to be false.

“I’m not saying that she was like overly rude. I’m just saying she didn’t want a bar of my attempt at reconciliation,” she added.

“So ever since that moment, every time I see Tones And I, I go, ‘The beef continues.’”

Chatfield laughs that she now takes back her apology because after watching back her 2021 Covid comments, “it wasn’t actually heated and what I said was just factually correct.”

“So I’m not really sure why you hate me,” Chatfield said. “I don’t dislike you. I’m retroactively just taking back that half-apology that you didn’t accept anyway, so it’s all good.”
