PENELOPE Cruz has been anointed Esquire’s ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’.

The Spanish actress is just the 11th woman to be given the nod by the magazine.

Previous honourers have included Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Rihanna, Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson.

Cruz told Esquire that she had “an attraction to drama” in her teens and 20s but “could not be less interested now”.

The Oscar-winner is married to fellow actor Javier Bardem, and the couple has two children. She wouldn’t comment on her family to the magazine, saying, “That is for us.”

Next up, Cruz will be seen in the Spanish-language film Ma Ma and in Grimsby with Sacha Baron Cohen.
