Best Actress Oscar nominee Brie Larson not spoken to her father for 10 years
IF she wins the Best Actress Award at the Academy Awards, Room star Brie Larson will not be thanking her dad. They have not spoken for 10 years.

BRIE Larson’s mother and father split up when she was six years old and she moved with her mother to Los Angeles from Sacramento.
The 26-year actor, who is a front runner for the Best Actress Academy Award later this month for her performance in Room, told Elle magazine that her relationship with her dad Syl Desaulniers, a chiropractor, was difficult.
“When legally I didn’t have to have visitation with him anymore, I jumped on it. As a kid I tried to understand him and understand the situation,” Larson said.
“But he didn’t do himself any favours.”
She said that she did not think her father ever wanted to be a parent.
She told Variety earlier in another interview that she only realised that her father had asked for a divorce from her mother before they left for LA with her sister when she had settled in LA.
However, her father clearly still supports her even if they no longer speak.
When Larson, whose next film is Kong: Skull Island, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, was told by Elle that she was odds-on favourite to win the Best Actress Oscar, she replied” “Don’t tell me that! Don’t tell me that! Don’t tell me that!
“The cool thing about right now is that I’ve won! I’ve won up until I lose!”
Room, directed by Lenny Abrahamson, is also nominated by the Academy Awards for Best Film, with Abrahamson nominated for Best Director.
The 88th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 28, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
