Art imitates life for Australian actress Nicole Kidman

NICOLE Kidman has opened up about why she agreed to play the mother of an adopted Indian child in her new movie Lion.

IN HER new film Lion, Nicole Kidman plays Sue Brierley, the mother of an adopted Indian child searching for his birth mother.

The role hit home for the 49-year-old, who adopted children Isabella, 23, and Connor, 21, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

“This movie is a love letter to my children,” Kidman said in Town & Country’s December-January issue, The New York Post reports.

“Sue is deeply maternal and full of unconditional love, which is really beautiful,” the Oscar-winner added.

“That’s why I wanted to do it. I relate to that. I feel that for my own children who are adopted.”

The actress, who posed for photographer Max Vadukul for the cover story, is also mum to biological daughters Sunday, eight, and Faith, five, with current husband Keith Urban.

“It’s not about anything else other than ‘I wanted you’,” Kidman explained. “It’s that deep and personal, and whatever your journey is, I’m here to love and support you. That’s what I connected to.”
