Rebel Wilson has been all over the news thanks to he new memoir Rebel Rising, which is filled with bombshell revelations.

The Australian actress and comedian has made headlines in the lead up to the book’s April 2 release, with explosive recounts of her time working with “massive “a**hole” Sacha Baron Cohen, how she was the butt of “fatphobic jokes” on the TV series Pizza, and why she thinks Adele is not her biggest fan.

Now, in an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Wilson said she is just about ready to retreat from the spotlight as divulging her secrets has taken a toll.

“Now I came to a point in my life where I’ve just gone through so much that the last point of like releasing it all is just to release it in a book,” the 44-year-old said on the episode.

“I will probably go private after this for the next eight to 10 years because I share so much in the book.”

Wilson then joked that hiding away in a cabin in the woods with her fiancée Ramona Agruma and daughter Royce, 17 months, sounds more appealing than ever.

“After this I’m going to go into a log cabin with Ramona and the baby or something,” she added.

Despite her fame and platform, Wilson has always been relatively shy. In her book, she detailed how she had trouble finding friends in primary school because of her reserved personality, and would often eat lunch in the girls’ bathroom by herself.

“Yeah, ‘cause I was just so shy,” she writes. “The thought of going out and talking to people that I didn’t know was really terrifying. So, I’d often just sit in the toilet with my little plastic lunch box, and just eat my little cheese sandwich.”

Her worried mother enrolled her in acting classes in an attempt to get her out of her shell – and it worked, after some kicking and screaming from a young Wilson.

“I was like, ‘No! that’s not me!’” Wilson writes. “Like, I’m holding onto the car door by my fingertips, and she’s pulling me, rips me off, like, pushes me like a snowplow – I’m like, ‘No, no, no, no. I’m not going. I’m not going!’ – and then, pushes me in the door, shuts the door, and says, ‘I’ll be back at 5:00,’ and leaves.”

Turns out mother does know best and Wilson would go on to gain more confidence before becoming a massive star. After her breakout role in the SBS cult comedy Pizza in the early noughties, she went on to star in the Pitch Perfect franchise, as well as The Hustle with Anne Hathaway and Bridesmaids with Melissa McCarthy.
