SCREENWRITER Dustin Lance Black has some strong words for Sam Smith.
During the Academy Awards, Smith suggested he was the first gay man to win an Oscar after he taking home top honours for Best Original Song for his James Bond theme song, Writing on the Wall.
Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiancé. Here's a start: https://t.co/8hGTRtIaMK

THE POINT: knowing our LGBTQ history is important. We stand on the shoulders of countless brave men and women who paved the way for us.

But the 41-year-old writer, who won Best Original Screenplay for Milk in 2009 and is engaged to Olympic diver Tom Daley, took to Twitter to correct Smith and call him out for texting his fiance.
“Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiance,” Black fired off also adding a link to his 2009 Oscars speech.
During his speech, 23-year-old Smith suggested he was the first openly gay man to win an Academy Award, which was incorrect.
“I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen, and he said that no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar,” Smith said.
“If this is the case — even if it isn’t the case — I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world.”
According to People, McKellen was referring to gay actors.
Folks on Twitter took aim at Smith saying he’s one of many — including Elton John, Stephen Sondheim and more.
Smith today clarified his comments - and threw some thinly-veiled shade back at Dustin, saying he’ll be “sure to check out your films now”:
Second openly gay man to win an oscar or third or fourth or 100th, It wasn't my point.
