THE 90th Academy Awards are about to be handed out in Hollywood and as ever, there is a divergence between who should win and who will win.

Of course, it’s all deeply subjective, but there are certain films and particular performances that really do deserve to be in the frame.

The Oscars have not been without a strong, growing presence of Australian stars. On Monday, former Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman will take the stage as a presenter.

Margot Robbie will also be presenting an award, as she nervously waits to hear if she can beat favourite Frances McDormand in the category for Best Actress.

The category features nominees including: Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Margot Robbie, I, Tonya Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird and Meryl Streep, The Post.

Robbie is one of our young Oscar nominees this year. There are many other Australians who’ve won in a variety of categories.

And their hard work wasn’t always in front of the camera.
