MITCH Winehouse has blasted the documentary about his daughter Amy after the film picked up Best Documentary Feature at yesterday’s Oscars.

The father of the late singer took to Twitter to rant again about director Asif Kapadia, who he claimed had “fooled everyone”, and went on to label the film, called Amy, “negative, spiteful and misleading”.

He insisted he wouldn’t change his stance on the film just because it had picked up an Oscar and his latest comments come just weeks after he also spoke out against the film’s BAFTA win, reports The Sun.

Taking to social media following the Oscar success, Mitch tweeted: “Always proud of my baby. Amy will not get an Oscar though. Just Asif Kapadia. That is what this is all about ... Asif. He’s fooled everybody.

“I am not changing my stance just because film won Oscar. It’s a negative, spiteful and misleading portrayal of Amy. We will fix this.”

After receiving abuse in response to his tweets, he later added: “If you are going to troll u’ve got to use a lot more swear words to be really offensive. Let’s keep trolling standards up. Come on trolls!”

The Oscar is the latest triumph for the film, which earlier this month picked up the trophy for Best Documentary at the BAFTAs. Responding to that win, Mitch Tweeted: “Please don’t congratulate me on the Amy film winning BAFTA.

“This is a one dimensional, miserable and misleading portrayal of Amy. Asif knows.”

Mitch also said he hoped Adele would win after Amy got a surprise Best British Female nomination at this year’s Brit Awards, though he said he was pleased the nomination was for the soundtrack album rather than the documentary itself.

The singer’s father recently told ITV’s This Morning that he’s working on his own project called Letter To Amy because he doesn’t want the documentary Amy to be the ‘defining image’ of the star.

He told the daytime show: “Let’s not call it a film, although it will probably end up as a film, working on a project called Letter To Amy, [including] people who have been excluded from that film, [with] a guy called Phil Griffin who did the Rehab and Back To Black documentaries and we’re going to be working and doing our own thing.”
