Gillian Anderson flaunts X-rated detail in stunning Golden Globes gown

The Crown star wore a breathtaking white ball gown at the Golden Globes on Monday – but upon closer inspection, the dress featured an explicit detail.

Gillian Anderson’s 2024 Golden Globes gown went largely unnoticed for its explicit detail on Monday, with fans since discovering the ivory dress was adorned with female anatomy.

“It has vaginas on it,” The X-Files star bluntly said on the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Anderson explained the gown was a collaboration between designer Gabriela Hearst and her own sexual wellness brand, G spot.

“[I wore this] for so many reasons. It’s brand appropriate,” she added.

The Crown actress, 55, said it took three-and-a-half hours to embroider each “yoni” on the custom gown.

“With the mantra of my brand G spot being to ‘prioritise pleasure’, I wanted to bring this element into the design,” she told British Vogue ahead of the Globes.

Her dress of choice has since become a buzzy talking point on social media, with the Sex Education star’s supporters lauding Anderson as a “feminist icon”.

After formalities wrapped, Anderson enjoyed a post-awards show snack, taking to Instagram with a photo of herself eating a sausage.

“Sometimes you just need a sausage to go with your yoni dress,” she quipped.

Elsewhere at the Globes, Australian actress Margot Robbie proved the fashion highlight, continuing her Barbie-reign in a hot pink Armani gown inspired by the 1977 ‘Super Star Barbie’ doll.

The Oscar-nominated star was dripping in $3 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery, including 30-carat diamond stud earrings.

While Robbie was defeated by US actress Emma Stone for Best Actress in a musical or comedy, the Greta Gerwig-directed summer blockbuster took home the inaugural Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award, beating Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ film.

Oppenheimer was the runaway winner of the night, taking home Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. and Best Score.

In TV, unsurprisingly, Succession dominated the drama category winning Best Drama Series, while Australian star Sarah Snook took home Best Actress, Kieran Culkin won Best Actor and Matthew MacFadyen was crowned Best Supporting Actor.

The Bear swept up the comedy categories, while Beef picked up a slew of awards in limited series.
