Americans don’t define Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as ‘real royalty’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not viewed as “real royalty” by Americans, a royal expert has revealed.

Meghan and Harry are not 'real royalty'

A royal expert has claimed the US public do not see Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as “real royalty” unlike the Prince and Princess of Wales.

During Tuesday’s episode of UK news channel GB News’ Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel, available to stream on Flash, American journalist Kinsey Schofield discussed Prince William and Kate Middleton travelling stateside and how their popularity in the country is different to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“I think popularity wise you do see the Prince and Princess of Wales have a much stronger hold here in the States,” she told the program.

“And that was not always the case. We went through years of Harry and Meghan complaining while William creates tangible change and creates these initiatives.

“With Harry and Meghan it’s a lot of talk, a lot of complaining [and] podcasting about words you don’t like.”

The commentator said Americans are “excited” to see William and Kate as it will be the “first time we’ve seen real royalty for a long time”, adding, “I don’t think that’s how we define Harry and Meghan.”

Ms Schofield is not the only person to comment on the Sussexes’ US popularity.

Last week, The Hill columnist Kristin Tate said the US are “turning their backs” on the former Suits actress.

“When they came here, Meghan Markle was quite popular, you could see that in the polls,” she told Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny.

“Now public opinion polls show that Americans are now turning their backs on her.

“She is just so obnoxious and doesn’t know when to just be quiet.

“Some things are better kept private and it’s just really not classy how she’s airing all of this dirty laundry and complaining about the royal family. It’s really not a good look.”

William and Kate touched down in Boston on Wednesday (US time) for three days of public engagements.

The couple will be attending the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony.

During their visit, the pair hope to “meet the local community” and learn how climate change is being addressed in the state.

The trip will end with the ceremony at the MGM Music Hall in hopes of raising awareness of the innovative work that’s being done to protect the environment.
