ACTON Park mates Noah Williams and Lachie Cato, both 4, are so excited to start kindergarten at the same school.

The pair will join thousands of Tasmanian children starting and returning to the state’s schools this week.

Both boys will start their schooling at Cambridge Primary School.
Lachie’s mum Alison Cato, who also attended the school, said her son was ready to take the next step in his educational journey.
“He’s looking forward to starting big school, and because he’s my second child I’m really looking forward to him starting,” Mrs Cato said.
“Starting school is very exciting no matter what age a child is … and teachers are excited about what this year will bring.”

Concerns have been raised this week about the cost to families of public schooling in Tasmania.
Mrs Cato, who will have two children at the school this year, said she was comfortable with the parent contributions.

“I think the fees are really reasonable, especially when you have come from having to pay childcare fees,” she said.
“If you want you can opt in to extra things like the lunch program or bands.”
