Glen Waverley Secondary College was the best government school in Victoria with a NAPLAN average across the five domains of 630.6.
Glen Waverley Secondary College principal Suzanne Plant credited the school’s “really great” teachers, “extremely supportive” parents and a school-wide commitment to learning for its fantastic NAPLAN results.
“We work really closely with our feeder primary schools, we have very supportive families and really great teachers who work collaboratively,” Ms Plant said.
“We provide learning specialists for our high performing students and programs for those who need more support.”
Croydon Community School, Yarra Hills Secondary College and Healesville High School were the worst performing schools in the area.
At the primary school level, Presbyterian Ladies’ College in Burwood topped the state with an average score of 588.8.
St Andrews Christian College, Oakleigh South Primary School, Wheelers Hill Primary School and Huntingtower School rounded out the top five.
To determine how each school performed in 2025, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Year 5 or Year 9) were combined and the average found.
Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.
The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
