A prestigious Shepparton private school secured the best NAPLAN results in the Goulburn Valley, with Year 9 students topping all five subjects for the second consecutive year.
Year 9 Goulburn Valley Grammar students topped the charts across all five subjects for the second year running.
Despite scoring the top average Year 5 scores, the grammar school was beaten by Glenrowan Primary School students in writing and numeracy.
Glenrowan Primary School principal Karly Duncombe said she was “stoked” with her school’s NAPLAN results.
Ms Duncombe said the school implemented new writing and numeracy programs several years ago, which have led to the school’s academic success.
“For writing, a lot of what we work on is what writing looks like and student’s knowledge of sounds,” she said.
“For numeracy, we have really tried to go back to basic and work in filling in any knowledge gaps.”
Glenrowan Primary School ranked second overall and Moyhu Primary School, Woodend Primary School and Toolamba Primary School rounded out the top five.
The top 15 performing Goulburn Valley high schools were private schools, with Yea High School and Myrtleford P-12 College recording the best public high school scores.
Australian Christian College in Echuca, Rushworth P-12 College and Seymour College fared the worst across the Goulburn Valley.
To determine how each school performed in 2025, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and the average found.
Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.
The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
