TASSIE school kids have pulled together bright and colourful costumes to dress up as their favourite novel characters for Book Week.
Dominic College student Henry Burne, 6, thought it would be fun to dress up as the grumpy yet kind character Carl Fredricksen from Up because “he’s really old and he looks really silly”.
Henry used balloons from home and sunglasses with the lenses popped out.
“My friends really liked my glasses,” he said.
“I liked my friend’s costume as Captain Underpants.”

Henry said he liked to read all kinds of books, but chapter books were the best.
Fellow student Hayley Bukowiecki, 9, dressed up as a witch from her favourite book Room on the Broom.
“I really enjoy reading books and I’ve got heaps of them, I’m reading Black Beauty,” she said.
Hayley said Book Week activities at school were fun, including the costume parade and a colouring in assessment where students could write about their chosen book.
A similar parade at Lindisfarne Primary this week presented a sea of Harry Potters, Snow Whites and Buzz Lightyears among other beloved characters.
