Amount most Aussies would need to win that would make them quit their jobs
Winning the lottery and never going back to work seems to be a shared dream for most Aussies. But when it comes to the amount needed to make it happen, we’re split.
How much would you need to win to quit your job?
It’s a question Aussies love to debate, and probably consider every time they buy a lottery ticket.
But when it comes to the answer, we’re split over the amount that would be enough for us to call it quits.
In a survey conducted by The Lottery Office, the 400 Aussie respondents were divided over how many millions they would need to walk.
The most popular answer was $5 million, nominated by 27.2 per cent of respondents, but other prizes attracted a similar proportion of people.

About one in five (20.1 per cent) said they would hand in their notice after pocketing $10 million, whereas similar number, 21.5 per cent, said it would take a $50 million jackpot or more for them not to show up the next day.
A similar proportion again, 19.23 per cent of respondents, believed they could quit their jobs with a win of just $1 million, while a not insignificant 11.9 per cent said they would resign after winning less than $1 million.

The results come as the USA Power Lotto jackpots to an amount that would make it tricky for even the most dedicated worker to justify another commute, hitting a mammoth $1 billion.
Aussies have a shot at the 10-figure prize pool, to be drawn Tuesday, through The Lottery Office.
The Australian-owned company allows Aussies to play for jackpots that dwarf local lotteries.
“When Australians purchase tickets in our lotteries, we purchase a matching ticket in the relevant overseas draw,” The Lottery Office chief executive Jaclyn Wood said.
The USA Power Lotto is mtched to the US Powerball, whose biggest-ever win paid out $1.3 billion to a single ticketholder in November 2022.
