TASSIE talent will be on show nationally this weekend when a new animated children’s television series hits TV screens.
Produced by Tasmanian-based production company Blue Rocket, Dumbotz will go to air nationally today on the Nine Network.
In a world populated entirely by robots, the Dumbotz are three hopelessly inept and foolhardy robots called upon by the Mayor of Lower Dumpton to save the world.
Dumbotz, which is co-produced by Sydney-based production company Beyond International, is the 21st series for Blue Rocket, which also found success with Fanshaw and Crudnut.
The children’s series, which created work for 27 Tasmanians, is expected to inject $2.5 million into the state’s economy after receiving $400,000 in funding from Screen Tasmania.
Arts Minister Elise Archer said the production company was helping to give Tasmania recognition as a leading producer of animated content.
Dumbotz premieres on 9Go at 7.30am today and will be distributed to international markets this year.
