The updated Western Queen MRE now stands at 3.8Mt at 3.1g/t for 370,000oz of gold, a 29 per cent increase in global ounces
The strongest growth was at Western Queen South which grew by 59%, highlighting the project's underground potential in addition to open pit operations
A drill program is being planned to further grow the resource and reclassify a significant portion of the newly defined Inferred Resources to Indicated
Special Report: Rumble Resources has unveiled a major resource upgrade at its Western Queen gold project in Western Australia, lifting the project's total MRE to 3.72Mt at 3.1g/t for 370,000 ounces of gold.
The new figure represents a 53% increase in grade and a 29% rise in total ounces compared to the previous MRE announced in October 2024.
The upgraded MRE includes both Indicated and Inferred Resources, with the improvement stemming from a more rigorous geological model, as well as integration of recent reverse circulation and diamond drilling data.
Rumble (ASX:RTR) initiated a “proof of concept” underground mining study in May 2025 to assess the economic potential of shifting away from an open- pit development strategy, given the higher upfront capital requirements of a pit. Early indications from that study have been positive, prompting a more detailed underground mine plan.
The revised geological modelling applied a 1.0g/t cut-off across the mineralised zones and leveraged stronger geological controls gathered from recent fieldwork.
The resulting substantial upgrade could reshape the development outlook for Western Queen.
Managing director and CEO Peter Harold said: “This is very positive news. The work done by the geological team again demonstrated that there is more value in the Western Queen gold resources.
“The re-interpretation that the team did as part of the work to look at the underground mining option as well as the inclusion of the intersections from the last two drill programs has made a big difference to the reported grade and contained gold.
“ especially at Western Queen South where the Indicated Resource grade has increased from 1.8g/t to 3.0g/t gold, while the Inferred category has seen an increase of almost 1Mt at a higher grade compared to the October 2024 mineral resource estimation.
“We are now reporting a global resource of 370,000 oz gold at an average grade of 3.1g/t. The priority now is to compare the economics of the proposed open pit project with what an underground operation may return.”
More potential for growth
The deposits remain open along strike and at depth and Rumble believes that additional drilling will further grow gold resources at Western Queen.
The team is now planning further drilling programs to extend high-grade mineralisation at depth and aims to convert a significant portion of the new Inferred Resources to the higher confidence Indicated Resource status.
Additionally, significant exploration potential remains along strike to the north and to the south along the recently reinterpreted position of the Western Queen Shear Zone.
Digging deeper
The updated MRE includes 8205m of reverse circulation and 2453m of diamond drilling results completed after the October 2024 MRE.
This drilling was focused on targeting new and extending existing high-grade south plunging mineralised positions at the Western Queen South and Princess deposits. This additional drilling led to a 75 per cent increase in the Inferred Resources to 2.4Mt at 2.8g/t gold for 217,800oz.
The Western Queen Resource is reported at a 0.5g/t Au cut-off for open-cut resources above the 245 metres Relative Level (mRL) level and 1.5g/t cut-off below the 245mRL level for underground resources.
The 245mRL level was chosen as it is the base level of the Western Queen Central Open Pit, which has historical reconciled production of 660kt at 8.9g/t Au for 190,000 oz.
Western Queen additionally hosts a potentially significant high-grade tungsten discovery, adding a critical mineral bonus to the gold project’s assets.
To develop Western Queen, Rumble has teamed up with large Indian mining contractor BGR Mining & Infra Limited through its Australian entities, Bain Global Resources and MEGA Resources.
The upgrade from Western Queen follows Rumble adding to its portfolio by acquiring the highly prospective Thunderstorm gold project in WA’s Goldfields-Esperance region of WA.
RTR is also advancing its world-class zinc-lead-silver Earaheedy project.
