HOBART liquor lovers can finally cheers to the opening of the first Dan Murphy’s bottle shop to hit the state’s South.
The discount bottle shop opened its doors to rewards customers for the first time between 6pm and 9pm on Thurssday night
It is the second Dan Murphy’s bottle shop to open in Tasmania following the opening of a Launceston establishment in 2017.
Construction on the 1325 sq m New Town warehouse store – behind the Maypole Hotel – began in August last year.
The bottle shop has employed 40 staff and features a dedicated fine wine area with wines organised by states and territories.
The store stocks about 200 different Tasmanian wine varieties and 24 local spirits. It also sells more than 20 Tasmanian craft beers and about 40 different local ciders.
Store manager Sam Mansfield said the company was excited to finally launch in Hobart.
“Our aim is to provide customers with exceptional service and our knowledgeable and passionate team members look forward to helping customers with their drinks needs,” he said.
“Our range of local produce is one of the best in the country … We have heaps of Tassie products on special exclusive to this store.”
The store will open to the general public on Friday and will celebrate its official grand opening on Saturday with a range of product tastings throughout the day from local brands including Lark Distillery and Clover Hill.
