SWARMS of tradies and home wares customers alike flocked to K&D today for its final clearance sale, with mark downs of 20-80 per cent seeing power tools flying off shelves.
Shopper Sarah Hawson said she was driving past the store when she noticed huge car queues around the Melville St premises.
She scored the last pair of Blundstone boots in her size for just $99 and hoped to wear them while building her new home.
“My partner’s a tradie and he comes in here a fair bit,” she said.
“Being Tasmanian owned, I guess it’s a bit sad it’s closing.”

Manager Darren Reardon said it was “pandemonium” in the store, with customers queuing up from 7am for the store opening at 9am.
“It’s a bit emotional, but we’ve had plenty of time to digest what’s going on,” he said.
“It’s amazing to see how many people have come out of the woodwork.”
The Tasmanian-owned business has sold homewares and building supplies to locals for nearly 120 years.
The University of Tasmania will develop the Melville St site as part of its move to the city.
