A MASSIVE 150-plus carpark will be built at Kingston Park as the development continues to take shape.

Kingston Park is seen as a game-changer for Kingborough with the development of 360 homes, retail and commercial spaces set to boost the economy by an estimated $300 million.

Kingston Park project director Tony Ferrier says the existing temporary parking at Kingston Park is located within the first stage of the residential development and therefore a new carpark needs to be built.

“The new carpark, situated on the corner of Goshawk Way and Skipper Lane, will have more than 150 carparking spaces and will be used for up to five years as the Kingston Park development progresses,” he said.

“It is central to Kingston and will provide parking prior to the provision of long-term parking facilities.

“A parking plan for the whole of central Kingston is being developed to complement this work.”

The development application for the carpark will be advertised until March 25 and is subject to council approval.

Last year, the council announced Sydney company Traders In Purple as the development partner for Kingston Park, the site of the former high school.

The development will include a cinema complex and the 11.3ha site will also feature 4ha of open space.

The entire project is expected to be completed in eight to 10 years.
