THE Central Highlands Council has received the development application for the Halls Island standing camp at Lake Malbena in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park.

Mayor Lou Triffitt said the council would deal with the plans in accordance to the Planning Act, as it does with any other project.

“I fully acknowledge the great interest in this application,” she said.

She said the council would be fully transparent in its dealings with the application and it would be advertised to allow for public comment in due course.

“Central Highlands community members and organisations, and the wider public are encouraged to provide written submissions at that time,” Councillor Triffitt said.

She said there was a lot of interest in the Lake Malbena project and council had already received a lot of letters and emails from the public wanting to have their say.

“I’d urge those interested in the project to wait. Any correspondence received outside the formal advertising period cannot be taken into account by the council when making its decision.”

Councillor Triffitt said the call for comment would be well advertised.
