Faerie Shop unable to renew its lease at the Salamanca Arts Centre

A beloved Hobart children’s shop and birthday party destination is looking for a new home.

SALAMANCA institution the Faerie Shop has closed, with the owners citing an inability to renew their lease.

The shop’s closure has been announced via a post on Facebook.

“The Faerie Shop celebrated 20 years in our store within the Salamanca Arts Centre in 2019 but, sadly, we were unable to gain a lease extension and our Salamanca outlet has now closed,” the post said.

“We are currently searching for a new home for The Faerie Shop and, in the meantime, we are moving our product range to our website and will participate in public events and operate pop-up shops in shopping centres once COVID-19 restrictions allow.

“Regrettably, we are unable to offer our popular faerie tea parties for the time being.”

The Salamanca Arts Centre has been contacted for comment.

In 2019, several spaces at the Arts Centre, including the one occupied by the Faerie Shop, were rezoned from arts retail to courtyard workshop.
