Illawarra grocery delivery service Grandma Rosies faces closure as parent company is wound up
Long-established Illawarra grocery delivery service Grandma Rosies faces an uncertain future after its parent company was wound up over an unpaid debt exceeding $250,000.
Illawarra grocery delivery service Grandma Rosies is facing an uncertain future after its parent company, Chento Pty Ltd, was ordered to be wound up in the NSW Supreme Court over an unpaid debt exceeding $251,000.
Court documents show the winding-up order was issued on November 10 after Chento failed to repay $251,314.70 owed to wholesaler Hay & Loxton Fruit Supply, a supplier of produce for Grandma Rosies.
Grandma Rosies describes itself on its website as a Wollongong-based, Australian-owned fresh fruit and vegetable delivery business, operating since 1993 and delivering throughout the Illawarra, from Helensburgh to Gerringong.
The website lists a warehouse address in Unanderra and offers daily delivery.
Attempts to contact Grandma Rosies office were unsuccessful while a spokesman for the court appointed liquidators, JLA Advisory, declined to comment.
Online ratings indicate the business had been struggling for some time with recent Google reviews noting the business hasn’t been answering calls for a year while there had been no Facebook reviews since September 2020.
Despite this, the company was advertising for a sales representative and a store hand in September.
The liquidator JLA Advisory has been appointed to assess Chento’s finances, identify assets and notify creditors.
A statutory report detailing Chento’s financial position and any prospects for restructure or sale is expected in the coming weeks.
