A LAUNCESTON restaurateur is facing having his company wound up if he can’t sell a property to pay off the company’s debt.

Salisbury Hallam, owner of Hallam’s Waterfront Seafood Restaurant, and director of Salisbury Hallam Pty Ltd, appeared in the Federal Court in Hobart today.

Registrar Susie Stone said she had “everything I need in front of me to wind up the company” but she adjourned the case for a month.

Mr Hallam told the court that before the matter reached court he had asked the deputy taxation commissioner for an extension so he could sell the property and pay the company’s debt but this was not accepted.

The one-month adjournment now gives him time to sell.

Mr Hallam said the property was owned by his mother, who was seated in the back of the court.
