An Australian CEO has revealed the very relatable moment she was “humbled” by her mum while trying to film content.
Jane Lu, is the CEO of the wildly successful fashion brand, ShowPo.
The 38-year-old, who goes by the name ‘The Lazy CEO’ on social media, has over 400,000 followers and she’s become one of Australia’s biggest business rising stars.
The CEO, who is also on Shark Tank, bootstrapped her fashion business in 2010, which is now making $100 million in revenue annually.
In 2023, the CEO upgraded from her $2 million Balmain property to a $14 million waterfront mansion in Birchgrove.
In 2024, she was named number 52 onThe Australian’s Young Rich List, which claimed she’d had a 46.6 per cent increase in wealth from 2023, putting her estimated wealth at $107 million. The year before, her estimated net worth was around $70 million.
None of these achievements though are going to save her from her mum’s criticism, and she shared the hilarious moment her mum, Queenie, mocked her for wearing a see-through leopard dress.

Online, people were quick to enjoy the relatable content of a mum who does not like the current trends.
One person praised Queenie for being “honest”, and another remarked that it was a “classic” mum response.
Although Ms Lu and her mum don’t always agree, she’s now launched a TikTok series where she gets her mum to style her.
Despite Ms Lu’s mum being unimpressed with the see-through moment, the CEO told news.com.au that it is one of ShowPo’s bestsellers.
“Our customers can’t get enough of it, and we’ve expanded on the trend by creating various iterations to suit different styles and occasions,” she explained.
“Using different types of see-through fabrications like lace, georgette, sequins, and crochet has been a major factor in how we style and design with sheer materials.”
Ms Lu said that customers tend to style the see-through pieces with oversized blazers and shirts to create a cool contrast.
The CEO said that the see-through trend went mainstream because of social media, with influencers on Instagram and TikTok “normalising” it.
“When you see it styled beautifully and confidently on your feed, it naturally feels more accessible and wearable,” she said.
“Over time, as more people incorporate it into their wardrobes, it’s become less niche and more mainstream.”
Ms Lu said she’s also found that the “versatility” of see-through styles makes them popular because they can be styled casually or for a formal event.
