A car booster seat has been urgently recalled after it was found to fail mandatory safety standards, posing a “serious risk of injury or death to young children”.

The two affected models of the seat were sold nationally and online by Dick Smith online seller J-Sky, trading as TechAcc, between October 1, 2020 and May 31, 2021.

Product Safety Australia (PSA) recalled the product on Friday, urging anyone in possession of one of the seats to “stop using the product immediately”.

“The product does not comply with the mandatory safety standard for child restraints for use in motor vehicles,” PSA said.

“There is a serious risk of injury or death to young children if the vehicle abruptly stops or is in an accident.”

Both models of the J-Sky Pty Ltd’s Car Booster Seat Safety Chair Cushion Pad For Toddler Children Child Kids Sturdy are affected by the recall.

This includes the Car Booster Seat Safety Chair Cushion Pad for Toddler Children Child Kids Sturdy, and the Car Booster Seat Safety Chair Cushion Pad for Toddler Children Child Kids Sturdy — Luxury.

PSA has urged anyone in possession of the seats to contact J-Sky Pty Ltd to arrange a return of the product and to receive a full refund.

For more information, consumers should contact J-Sky on 07 3106 8958, via email or online.
