THE Mount Wellington Cableway Company will request permission to carry out a flora and fauna study of the route for the proposed new road off McRobies Rd in South Hobart.
The agenda for the Hobart City Council parks and recreation committee meeting at Town Hall on Thursday night recommends approval be granted to the company to undertake non-invasive works for a land survey and flora and fauna survey within a 50m-wide corridor.
The company wants to undertake preliminary investigations on the council’s land on the southern slopes of McRobies Gully as part of identifying a potential access route to a proposed cable car base station in Wellington Park.

Chairwoman Jude Franks said it would be “a very non-invasive, clipboard-style study” to give the company the information it needs to go forward with a development application.
“We have an expectation that the recommendations of the officers, that this permit be granted, would go forward,” Ms Franks said.
