BASSLINK has broken down again, Hydro Tasmania has confirmed

UPDATE, 8.45pm: The Australian Energy Market Operator says the breakdown in Basslink is related to the interconnector on land and it should be back in service tomorrow.
“It’s nothing to do with the Basslink cable, they are working on that and we believe it will be back in service tomorrow,” an AEMO spokesman said.
EARLIER: BASSLINK has broken down again, Hydro Tasmania has confirmed.
A spokeswoman for Hydro Tasmania was unable to detail the nature or cause of the fault but said more information would be released soon.

In late 2015 Tasmania was plunged into an energy crisis when the undersea cable failed and remained out for action for six months.
The exact cause of the fault was never determined.
Hydro Tasmania storages are currently at 31.7 per cent.
