A man in his 60s is the latest truck driver to have tested positive to Covid-19 in South Australia.
The freight driver, who is a SA resident, travelled from NSW before his positive result was returned on Friday.
Chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier called a snap press conference in the afternoon where she announced the new case — making him the tenth truck driver to have tested positive to Covid-19 in recent weeks.
She said the vaccinated man lived in a share house in Salisbury, in Adelaide’s north, and the “handful” of people who lived with him were considered close contacts.
All residents from the share house are being tested and will isolate for two weeks.
“He’s been tested very early in his infectious period and because we had a negative result from NSW, we’ve been able to have a slightly different grade for our exposure sites at this stage,” Professor Spurrier said.
“This gentleman has no symptoms so he’s completely asymptomatic (and) feeling well but to be very cautious he’s going to be shifted to Tom’s Court as per usual procedure.”
Exposure locations have been listed in Adelaide’s north related to the case.
Anyone has been to one of the following tier 3 exposure sites must get tested immediately and quarantine until they receive their first negative. They must also be retested on days five and 13:
- Blanchetown: BP service station and toilet block on Thursday, October 7 from 11.15pm to midnight
- Salisbury North: Drakes Supermarket on Friday, October 8 from 9am to 9.45am
- Salisbury North: Star laundromat along Whites Rd on Friday, October 8 from 8.45am to 9.45am
- Yamba: Caltex service station on Thursday, October 7 from 9am to 9.45am
There is also a tier 4 location where those who attended the premises need to monitor for symptoms and get tested as soon as they present.
- Elizabeth: OTR on Friday, October 8 from 2.30am to 3am; and 9.45am to 10am
