Flamboyant property developer who gifted wife with $480k Lamborghini has assault charges withdrawn

A flamboyant property developer who became a social media meme when he gifted his wife with a $480k Lamborghini has had his charges thrown out of court.

Parramatta developer Jean Nassif’s instagram videos have viral reactions

A glamorous Sydney property developer accused of beating his wife has had charges withdrawn after she failed to show up to court and cannot be contacted.

Jean Nassif, 54, was arrested at his multimillion-dollar mansion at Chiswick, in Sydney’s inner west, on May 3 and charged with two counts of common assault and attempted intimidation against his wife, 34-year-old wife Nissering ‘Nissy’ Nassif.

The couple went viral in 2019 when Mr Nassif, who owns Toplace Group, filmed himself gifting his wife with a $480,000 yellow Lamborghini on Valentine’s Day.

He famously captioned the video: “Congratulations Mrs Nassif … you like?”

Police alleged Mr Nassif punched his wife three or four times in the face and grabbed her by the wrist, prompting her to call police.

The 54-year-old is alleged to have slapped Ms Nassif on her face and dragged her around their luxurious home.

Ms Nassif told police she was scared for her life.

The property developer had pleaded not guilty and was due to face a hearing at Burwood Local Court on Monday but police prosecutors attempted to adjourn the matter because the court heard Ms Nassif was in Lebanon.

She had been served a subpoena to attend court on Monday.

Magistrate Peter Bugden asked police to try to contact Ms Nassif in Beirut on Monday, but they could not get in contact with her.

Mr Bugden declined to adjourn the matter, telling the court Ms Nassif knew she was supposed to be in court.

The charges against Mr Nassif were withdrawn.

An application for an apprehended violence order protected Ms Nassif from her husband was also withdrawn by police.
